Our Approach

General partners and limited partners periodically have special requirements in completing a transaction. PEI always works to provide custom solutions to accommodate these situations. PEI is also willing to undertake any size transaction.

Inventive Structures

PEI has provided inventive liquidity solutions to GPs, LPs and corporations by winding down mature funds or funds-of-funds, executing tender offers for mature fund interests, purchasing non-strategic holdings from corporate investors and restructuring funds undergoing management changes.

Extensive Transactional Experience

The principals of PEI developed the initial market for the purchase of limited partnership interests in private equity funds and in private direct investments on a secondary basis, beginning over 30 years ago. In more than 100 secondary transactions, PEI has purchased over 290 limited partnership interests in over 130 different fund groups in leading venture capital, growth equity, leveraged buyout and mezzanine funds with over 2,200 underlying portfolio companies. PEI has completed transactions of less than $1 million to more than $100 million.

Reputation for Excellence

PEI has developed a reputation for fairness, sound analysis and discreet execution of transactions. Both general partners and limited partners have appreciated the efficiency, directness and discretion of the PEI team.

Seasoned Team of Professionals

PEI has a strong team of dedicated professionals with a total of over 130 years of secondary private equity experience investing over different investment cycles. The principals have been actively making private equity secondary purchases for an average of 21 years each.

Long-Standing, Industry-Wide Relationships

Relationships are critical to success in private transactions. The principals of PEI have made investments in over 130 different private equity fund groups and maintain relationships with many other general partners and institutional investors.

Confidentiality

Discretion and confidentiality are key considerations to counterparties in a secondary transaction. Confidentiality is essential to protect sellers, general partners, other limited partners and portfolio companies. PEI has built its reputation on working discreetly and confidentially with investors to achieve their objectives.
